How and When to adjust Signal Threshold

Signal threshold is a setting for filtering out noise

If your signal threshold is too low (too sensitive), it might include stray light from out-of-focus areas –like the air next to an edge in your field of view.

But some surfaces don’t have a high reflectivity of diffuse light. It might be white paint or a translucent surface or clear coating, for example. And with a signal threshold set too high, you might get a lot of data dropouts on an otherwise good surface measurement.

In this quick video, Application Engineer Jared Wheeler shows you what to look for with signal threshold errors, and how to fix them.
