4D Technology, an Onto Innovation subsidiary, announced today the launch of the AccuFiz Duo Fizeau interferometer.
The AccuFiz Duo dynamic interferometer uniquely combines both the industry leading AccuFiz D short coherence capabilities with long coherence capabilities in a single system.
The AccuFiz Duo employs the same patented technology as the AccuFiz D, enabling vibration insensitive, on-axis, dynamic measurement for high accuracy measurement of optical grade surfaces. With a short coherence length source, the AccuFiz Duo measures flats and lenses without the need for coating to attenuate extraneous interference fringes. This mode enables surface error, transmitted wavefront error, remote cavity, wedge, optical thickness, and homogeneity measurements of plane parallel transparent surfaces >0.2mm thick.
By adding a long coherence source to the mature AccuFiz D system, the AccuFiz Duo system can also provide on-axis temporal and dynamic surface shape and transmitted wavefront quality measurements of non-parallel surface optics, removing the need for 2 separate interferometers.

The AccuFiz Duo delivers both short and long coherence capabilities in a single system to measure a broader range of optics for surface shape, transmitted wavefront error, homogeneity, and optical thickness.
The AccuFiz Duo has the same compact, lightweight design of the AccuFiz D, with 2 source modules to enable measurements on a broader range of optics in a lab or shop floor.
4D Technology’s user-friendly 4Sight Focus analysis software is common to both modes and facilitates switching sources easily. 2D and 3D displays, filtering, and masking tools make it simple to quantify key surface shape; and Zernike, Seidel, geometric and diffraction analyses are all easy to perform.
The new AccuFiz Duo laser interferometer continues 4D Technology’s tradition of offering some of the world’s highest-performing interferometers, backed by industry-leading service and applications support.
The AccuFiz Duo will be showcased at Photonics West, 2024 in Booth 1843 at the Moscone Center from Jan 31 – Feb 2, 2024.
